  • 5 Card Stud Tips and Hints

Playing 5 card stud poker is definitely one of the harder poker variations to play, with only 5 cards that are dealt to you been the cards in which you can make your best hand.

In order to be able to play successful and profitable 5 card stud you need to study the game and pick up hints and tips in order to be able to get a better understanding of the game.

I have decided to offer you some of the best tips and hints that have been offered to me in my time of playing the game to the standard of which I play today.

I know that a few of these tips are going to contradict your current playing style but believe me, I thought the same when I was been told them and chose to ignore a couple thinking that I could place a few of them into my game to tighten up the losses.

I finally decided that I would alter my game in order to include these tips and haven’t looked back since.

Some of these tips seem to be very basic but believe me, there are players who haven’t even done those yet.

    1. Study the value of all the different cards and what each card means to your particular hand. Doing this will leave you in a position where you can make informed bets and decisions rather than rushed plays.

    2. Carry a cautious approach to a hand is the exposed cards are the same for two or more players. There is a strong possibility that at least one of the players is carrying a strong hand.

    3. Making a raise is designed to show strength in your hand, so bluffing is making a play to tell opponents that you have a strong hand. I would strongly advise not to bluff until you become an experienced player and are able to play higher stakes. Players at lower stakes are more likely to chase a hand as they don’t know any better.

    4. Keep your concentration. Doing so means that you will be aware of the cards that have already been dealt and those that are still within the deck. Failure to do this could see you drawing dead and losing a vast amount of chips in the process.

    5. Many players like to use the cards in which are visible to make their best hand but depending on these cards means that your hand is almost see through, meaning that other players will be able to place you on a strong hand. Try to play cards that are exposed only to you, this makes it hard for opponents to make their read on you.

These 5 tips will definitely improve your game and your fortunes as long as they are used with a great poker mentality. Without that, you are entering into a game ready to give your funds away.

I know that straying away from these is very tempting, especially number 5 but trust me, you will see a vast improvement if you stick with them.
