  • Increase Your Stack By Stealing Blinds

Stealing blinds has been a great way to gain a higher chip stake since the game of poker began.

The thing with stealing blinds is that you are looking to bluff your opponents, making them think that you have a powerful starting hand, when in honesty you could be holding a low strength hand.

This is one of the main issues that poker players face every time that they are looking to steal the blinds, the fact that the players in the blind positions act after you do means that there is a chance that the players in the blinds could be holding a power hand, leaving you with a call or re-raise and you without your bluffed chips.

Stealing blinds also offers more benefits than just been able to add the chips in the pot to your chip stack. When a blind steal is made, it can also show strength in your hand as players are given the impression that the cards are falling well for you, giving you power hands to open the betting.

For a player who is seated at a table to see that a player is winning a high percentage of the hands that are been played at the table will mean that they have to respect your playing style, sometimes meaning that doubt in their hand strength will cause them to fold eve though unknowingly they are holding the stronger hand.

But stealing blinds is just like bluffing, doing this too often will mean that players will realise what you are doing and the chances of being called increases greatly, leaving you entering into a pot with a hand you are going to be entering into with the lowest strength hand.

This is not a position that any poker player should willingly be placed into as this offers a high possibility of losing your chips to rival opponents.

With this been an issue the stealing of blinds should definitely only be done on a well thought out move, if the players at the table seem to be consistently looking to defend their blinds, this should not be an option that should be considered as you are very likely to get a call in this instance.

Knowing when you can steal a blind is something that takes practice and skill and should only be done by experience players, doing so without enough practice and skill will leave you falling into a huge financial hole, leading to you running out of bankroll.
